The Magnepan 1.7i stand-alone speaker has high resolution, low distortion, enough bass and treble (extremely high quality) to satisfy everyone. With a midrange that reproduces well-recorded voices and acoustic instruments with incredible realism. The Magnepan 1.7i is an updated version of the popular 1.7, which represented a departure from Magnepan's 41-year history of using planar magnetic drivers for bass or lower midrange. The use of quasi-ribbon technology in the lower midrange and bass will provide a new level of coherence. What is quasi-ribbon? A quasi-ribbon driver is a departure from a true ribbon design. A very thin foil is used to hold the sensitive ribbons in place. One of the advantages of a quasi-ribbon driver is an extremely wide frequency response and high power handling.
