« Form follows function » applies perfectly to the LEEDH E whose architecture follows naturally its functionality. Its specific functions are to provide a vibration free structure and directivity controlled radiation.
The Acoustical Beauty Driver (ABD) is the basic element of this architecture: it has the ironless motor and the ferrofluid seal suspension. The direct contribution of these technologies, compared to the previous art, is the drastic reduction in harmonic distortion (artificial tone of the instruments, saturation and aggressive sound), reaching a level comparable to that of the best amplifiers (above 500Hz). Their collateral contribution is the removal of parasitic resonance modes of the diaphragm, of the basket, and the amount of air in the box/basket (coloration, loss of informations and dynamic).
On the other side, the freedom of spatial positioning allowed by the ABD allows the LEEDH to be omnidirectional to 200Hz, then to gradually increase the directivity versus frequency, reaching into a solid angle of 90 ° (± 45 ° around the axis listening) a constant frequency response of about 400Hz to 20KHz, with a gradual attenuation according to the listening angle (-3 dB at ± 30 ° and -5 dB at ± 45 °). This feature, combined with a perfect impulse response, can provide, when you listen offset from the axis or with a lot of people, to conserve a natural tonal restitution and a complete stability of the sound space.
In addition, thanks to its very linear impedance curve, the LEEDH E is less requiring from the amplifier, particularly in terms of stability on the load, and intrinsic power.
