Elektromesstechnik (EMT) is a decades-old manufacturer of phonograph turntables and professional audio equipment, including a well-regarded line of artificial reverberation devices starting with the EMT 140 reverb station. The company was founded by Wilhelm Franz back in 1938.
Today, EMT Tontechnik continues as a division of HiFiction AG, based in Turbenthal, Switzerland. HiFiction produces modern EMT cartridges, which are based on the original EMT products from the golden age of phonograph technology. The company also manufactures the famous Thales tonearms and turntables. HiFiction has also recently expanded the EMT line with the new EMT 928II turntable, the EMT 128 RIIA preamplifier, the EMT 909 and 912 professional tonearms, as well as cartridges that are compatible with older EMT professional devices.
HiFiction is located today in a former spinning mill that was built in 1833 and has been carefully renovated. Turbenthal is close to Zurich Airport and Winterthur.
